Great Expectations
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens was a great piece of British Literature. It is a story of a boy named Pip who grows up with his poor uncle and aunt. He dreams of success and a wonderful life with his love Estella. He hope for love with Estella was crushed when she told him she was incapable of love. Estella was raised by a horrible and bitter old woman named Miss Havisham. Miss Havisham taught her adopted daughter to break the hearts of men for hers had been torn from her chest. Miss Havisham was left on her wedding day by her fiance. She could never let go of her pain, so she looked to torture others. Miss Havisham left all her clocks at the time when she found out she wasn't getting married. She also wore one shoe from that day. She went as far as leaving the wedding cake there to rot and collect dust. Her house remained unchanged. Pip worked so hard for his love and success that he failed miserably. He turned in a cruel man that was ashamed of the only person who ever cared about him, Joe.
